Experience and education in teaching languages

My name is Christoffer Lindquist (I previously used my father’s last name Kuusakoski) and I have around three years of professional experience as a language teacher to adult migrants in Finland, Sweden and Germany.

I have studied language teaching pedagogy at university level in Sweden and Germany (2 years in total). I have also acquired the official certification for teaching German on integration courses in Germany.

Experience of teaching Finnish

After having been primarily a professional Swedish teacher I switched to teaching Finnish in 2024. Since then I have created and taught a 6 month, 20 hours/week beginner’s course based on my own teaching method with special focus on speaking skills. I was very pleased with the level attained by the participants. See the feedback from participants below.

I have been running a Youtube channel for learners of Finnish and have given conversation training sessions in Espoo and online.

Language skills

I was born in Helsinki. There are two official languages in Finland, Finnish and Swedish. My mother is Swedish speaking and my father Finnish speaking. Even though Swedish is my mother tongue, I have spoken Finnish since I was a child and have grown up in a predominantly Finnish speaking society with many Finnish speakers among my friends and relatives.

Learning foreign languages is a lifelong passion of mine, so I have a lot of personal experience of how we learn a new language efficiently. Foreign languages that I speak include English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Ukrainian.
